What is a Neuropsychological Evaluation?
This type of evaluation provides a comprehensive understanding of functioning across domains, including cognition, attention, learning, memory, and emotional functioning. Knowledge gained from neuropsychological evaluations is used to provide very specific recommendations around treatments or educational that may be helpful.
Why might a child, adolescent, or adult be referred for a neuropsychological assessment?
- Complaints or observations of attention problems
- Questions about problem-solving or reasoning ability
- Suspected learning disability/dyslexia
- Concerns about anxiety or mood symptoms
- Presence or suspected presence of a medical disease that affects the brain in some manner
- Assess changes following concussion/traumatic brain injury
